Department for Education selects Tribal to provide quality assurance of the new NPQ

In June 2018 Tribal was proud to announce that they have been chosen by the Department for Education (DfE) to provide quality assurance of the new gold-standard National Professional Qualifications (NPQ). The contract will ensure qualifications are independently verified, nationally consistent, and of the highest quality across the country. The contract has been agreed for an initial three-year period, worth up to £2 million per year.

Tribal has a strong track record of providing ‎quality assurance and will monitor and assess the performance of providers against the NPQ Quality Framework, which sets out the standards of provision that providers must meet to retain their accreditation.

Tribal’s Quality Assurance Solutions division (QAS) specialises in providing quality assurance, monitoring and inspection services to government agencies and providers of education, training and professional learning.  The QAS team has delivered many large-scale quality improvement and management contracts, including working for Ofsted in the UK, the States of Massachusetts and New York in the US and Abu Dhabi Education Council and the Ministry of Education in the UAE.

• The Department worked with experts from the education sector, and other sectors, to update and improve NPQs to give teachers what they need to be world class leaders – including a stronger emphasis on financial and risk management and improvement strategies for schools and staff.

• The new, gold standard NPQs cover the full range of leadership roles in today’s school system, including, for the first time, a National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) for MAT leaders and executive headteachers.
